Neversea or UNTOLD: Which Romanian Festival Should You Pick?
July 2026
Romania runs two of Europe's biggest festivals — one on a Black Sea beach, one in a city arena. They are very different weekends. Here's how to choose the right one for you.
The short version
Neversea is a beach festival in Constanța on the Black Sea coast — sand, sea and sun by day, main stages on the beach by night. UNTOLD is a city festival in Cluj-Napoca, centred on Cluj Arena, with a big-production, late-night, urban feel. Both draw huge international lineups; the difference is the setting and the vibe around the music.
Pick Neversea if you want a holiday with a festival attached
If your ideal is beach days, seafood dinners and dancing on the sand until sunrise, Neversea is your festival. You can build a proper Black Sea holiday around it — swim and recover by day, festival by night. It suits people who want the trip to be as much about the coast as the lineup.
Pick UNTOLD if you want the big-city spectacle
UNTOLD is the more intense, higher-production experience — arena main stages, elaborate sets, and a lively student city that turns into one big party. The daytime is for exploring Cluj rather than lying on a beach. It suits people who want the festival itself to be the main event.
Practical differences
Both use cashless wristbands and both run late into the night, so pace yourself either way. Constanța means booking beach-area accommodation early; Cluj means staying central and taxiing to the arena. Getting to each is easy — both cities have airports that get busy during festival week, so book travel ahead.
Or do both
They usually fall in different parts of the summer, so the truly committed do both in one season — the beach one and the city one. If you can only pick one this year, choose by the holiday you want around the music, not just the lineup: coast and calm, or city and spectacle.
